The Virtual High School Partners with Generation YES to Advance Technical Education
The Virtual High School (VHS, Inc.), a non-profit organization empowering schools with the industry’s most extensive variety of online and blended learning programs, has announced a collaboration with non-profit technology pioneer Generation YES. Through collaboration, GenYES and VHS hope to expand the number of student technology leaders and provide more students with access to engaging technology education.
Generation YES and The Virtual High School are unique in that both non-profit organizations were founded in 1996 through Technology Challenge Grants from the U.S. Department of Education. More than twenty years later, both VHS and GenYES continue to advance education and help schools and students succeed.
Generation YES empowers students and teachers to use technology to improve education in their own school. With its school-friendly online tools and innovative project-based curriculum, Generation YES builds a collaborative learning community that enables student leaders in grades 3-12 to work alongside their teachers as technology integration collaborators. Generation YES (www.genyes.org) is a nonprofit organization with 20 years of research experience and proven scientific results. Since 1996, over 2000 schools have used the GenYES program. Generation YES believes that when schools trust and collaborate with their students to integrate technology, academic success follows.
“The mission of Generation YES has always been harnessing the energy and technology expertise of K-12 students to become allies with educators to transform schools.” said Dennis Harper, Founder and CEO of Generation YES. “We are pleased to partner with VHS to advance educational opportunities at schools and help prepare students for college, careers, and life.”
The Virtual High School believes every child deserves access to a quality education regardless of their geographic location or economic circumstance. The nationally recognized non-profit organization provides quality online and blended education to more than 600 schools across the United States and around the world. VHS offers over 200 online courses, including 23 Advanced Placement offerings such as AP Computer Science Principles, as well as a variety of unique STEM offerings. The Virtual High School is fully accredited and courses are NCAA-approved.
“We’re thrilled to partner with GenYES to advance K-12 education.” said Carol Ribeiro, President & CEO of VHS. “Like GenYES, VHS believes students deserve a strong foundation in career and technical education. With the support provided to students and schools by VHS and GenYES, students develop their abilities, discover their passions, and better understand the opportunities available to them.”
