Following a lengthy search process, Chicago Public Schools (CPS) has selected Follett Aspen for its new student information system (SIS). CPS intends to transition to Aspen in 2019.

Aspen will replace the district’s current SIS as well as consolidate multiple other products into a single educational platform. By delivering a flexible, state-of-art solution for hosting and managing student data, Aspen will enable CPS staff to more effectively and efficiently perform their academic and administrative duties.

A mobile-friendly, one-stop application for teachers, administrators and the school community, Aspen’s many features include a teacher portal, and improved parent and student portal. Aspen’s Gradebook, used by teachers to capture attendance and grade information, will offer parents and students timely access through its web-based portal.

“Illinois has been Follett’s home since 1873 and we couldn’t be more thrilled to be the student information system vendor of choice for our neighboring Chicago Public Schools,” said Nader Qaimari, President of McHenry, Ill.-based Follett School Solutions. “This was important to us as a company because of the respect we hold for CPS, and we worked diligently to prove to them our Aspen SIS answers all the district’s needs. We look forward to a long, successful partnership.”

Chicago Public Schools, the nation’s third-largest school district, serves 381,349 students in 652 schools. Follett’s Aspen SIS currently serves more than two million students throughout 236 school districts in the U.S. and Canada.
