Follett announced it has deployed its market-leading Follett Destiny Library Manager and Resource Manager solutions as well as its Aspen Student Information System to Microsoft Azure. The Azure cloud platform now serves as the data center host for Follett-hosted Destiny and Aspen customers.
“By hosting our products on Microsoft Azure, we are able to provide our customers with greater stability, scalability, support, and performance,” said Britten Follett, executive vice president, Follett School Solutions. “It also helps ensure our customers’ data remains private, safe and secure.”
Azure provides a growing collection of integrated cloud services, including analytics, computing, database, mobile, networking, storage and web.
“We are working closely with Microsoft to take full advantage of all the benefits Microsoft Azure has to offer, from the most efficient and effective ways to provide solutions as well as tap into the latest features and services,” said George Gatsis, senior vice president/technology platforms, Follett School Solutions.
Gatsis elaborated on the benefits of Destiny and Aspen customers being deployed on Azure:
• Stability. “The beauty of migrating to the cloud is that it is now much easier to keep customers systems’ up and running. Should there be any issues, Microsoft Azure provides a variety of back-up and recovery options that span multiple data centers.”
• Scalability. “With the ability to nearly instantaneously ramp up and down servers, we are much more effective at meeting our customers’ business cycles, in particular scaling to meet peak demand times such as the start of school and term close dates.”
• Support. “Our customers have comfort in knowing they have world-class support.”
Anthony Salcito, Microsoft vice president of worldwide education said, “We appreciate the opportunity to work with a company such as Follett, with its longtime expertise in the education industry. We look forward to bringing world-class solutions to our PreK-12 customers.”
