The Research for Indigenous Social Action and Equity Center (RISE) is hosting its inaugural Research for Indigenous Social Action and Equity Conference (RISE Conference) to be held August 28 – August 30, 2023, at the Tulalip Resort in Tulalip, WA.
The first event of its kind, the RISE Conference is bringing data into a conversation between Indigenous researchers and attendees to discuss combating invisibility and racism, identifying and unraveling bias in the K-12 education system, and countering violence against Native people. Participants will also engage in interactive conversations on the current state of Indigenous data collection all while uplifting Indigenous strengths, resilience, and evidence for change.
“Important research is happening every day in Indian Country, with so many Indigenous researchers leading in so many fields,” said RISE Center Director Dr. Stephanie Fryberg (Tulalip). “The RISE Conference is a trailblazing event aimed at championing research by and for Indigenous people across many issue areas.”
