On AP® English Literature and Composition, 93% of VHS students who took the 2019 exam scored a 3 or higher, almost double the 50% national average. In addition, the students outperformed the 2018 VHS cohort of exam takers, 72% of whom scored a 3 or higher, by 21 percentage points. The 2018 exam takers still notably outpaced that year’s national pass rate average of 47% on the exam, by 25 percentage points.
On AP® European History, 83% of VHS students who took the 2019 exam scored a 3 or higher, surpassing the 58% national average. Additionally, the 2019 group beat the preceding VHS cohort, 69% of whom passed the 2018 exam, by 14 percentage points. The 2018 exam takers beat the national average of 57.7% by approximately 11 percentage points.
On AP® Physics C Mechanics, 88% of VHS students who took the 2019 exam scored a 3 or higher, beating the 71% national average. In 2018, a slightly smaller percentage (81%) of the exam-taking cohort scored a 3 or higher. The 2018 cohort surpassed that year’s national average of 77.2%.
