OGAP engages teachers in high-quality professional learning that empowers them to transform mathematics instruction. By deepening their knowledge of how students learn, and by providing resources and responsive routines, OGAP enables educators to continually refine their practice and support all K–8 learners.
OGAP is not a curriculum; it is an intensive math professional learning steeped in pedagogy that is anchored in learning research-based math progressions which enable teachers to be better users of their current curricular materials. Teachers will develop a deeper understanding in order to build upon their expertise and improve instruction in their classroom.
OGAP enables teachers to identify the underlying gaps in students' understanding and how to address those gaps. School leaders attend training and actively support implementation.

What makes OGAP unique?
The Ongoing Assessment Project (OGAP) is a systematic and intentional professional learning program that equips teachers with expertise in both math content and pedagogy. It helps educators use student work as ongoing evidence to diagnose misconceptions and guide instruction. Built on mathematics education research funded by the National Science Foundation, OGAP focuses on how students develop understanding of key concepts, the common errors they make, and the misconceptions that can interfere with learning and problem-solving. Currently, OGAP offers systems for additive reasoning, multiplicative reasoning, fractions, and proportionality.
Characteristics:
Four days direct professional development per content area focused on:
● Development of pedagogy.
● Formative assessment in general and OGAP specifically.
● Research underpinning learning and understanding the OGAP Framework and learning progression for specific topic.
● Access to all OGAP professional development materials.
● Access to OGAP item banks with hundreds of research-based diagnostic probes designed to reveal student reasoning - not just right or wrong answers for each math topic.
● The OGAP Frameworks/Learning progression and supporting materials.
