FORT WORTH, Texas, December 3, 2025—Just Right Reader is gifting 5 million books to districts nationwide in an effort to keep students reading and engaged over winter break. The Winter Reading Program will provide participating districts with three rounds of Just Right Reader’s personalized Take-Everywhere Literacy Packs™—totaling up to 1,800 books in English and Spanish per district—to help accelerate reading achievement for students.
“We want to keep kids and their families reading over Winter Break, and we know districts do, too. As part of the Winter Reading Program, districts receive three rounds of Take Everywhere Literacy Packs™, personalized for up to 100 students and supported by ESSA Level II - Moderate Evidence research. Each literacy pack includes Science of Reading–aligned decodable books matched to each student’s decoding needs, so every student gets the right support at the right time.
Just Right Reader’s Take-Everywhere Literacy Packs™ are designed to make small-group phonics instruction easy and effective, engage families in the joy of reading, and accelerate reading achievement for all students. Teachers use the packs, which include ready-to-use resources and lesson plans, during classroom instruction. Students then take them home in their customized backpacks to continue practicing on their own and with their families.
Take-Everywhere Literacy Packs™ include:
- Science of Reading-based literacy resources in English or Spanish, personalized for each student based on reading assessment data and customized for every district
- Engaging video phonics lessons in 14 languages accessible by QR codes on every book, so families can confidently support reading at home
- Writing practice and fun research-based activities in every book
- District-branded backpacks and personalized video messages from district leaders to families
