Sandy, Utah — June 7, 2016 — Research shows that developing effective educators involves providing regular feedback and support. But what practices hinder a district’s ability to create a data-driven professional learning cycle for teachers? What policies and tools can support personalized professional learning and build trust in the evaluation process? In Episode 2 of Truenorthlogic’s Educator Viewpoints on Personalized Professional Learning Salon Series, educators, leaders and district administrators are invited to explore these topics and more in a free, comprehensive report and a webinar on June 23rd at 2 p.m. Eastern time.

Episode 2, titled “Practices and Processes: How Policies and Automation Shape Success,” shares the results of a survey conducted with more than 500 teachers and principals about professional learning plans, teacher evaluations, professional growth measures, observer calibration, and online tools. It also presents best practices and lessons learned from educators in the field, including the Georgia Department of Education, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools in North Carolina, and Minneapolis Public Schools. In addition, 10 district leaders weigh in on the most important attributes to look for in online tools.

The June 23rd webinar will guide participants through key findings from the survey and share real-world insights from Scott Larson, supervisor of professional development for Pasco County Schools in Florida.

“A surprising finding from the survey is that one-quarter of principals say that their district does not require any of their teachers to create a professional learning plan, even though this practice can build trust in the overall evaluation and professional learning cycle. Another unexpected finding is that, even in today’s digital age, more than one-quarter of teachers and principals say that their teacher evaluation process is still paper-based and onerous,” said Jim Rosenthal, CEO for Truenorthlogic. “Through the free episode guide and webinar, we aim to bring national attention to these findings and present practical, actionable solutions to these challenges.”
