March 11^th marked our first day of the new reality in America. Since that time, calls to the Learning Counsel have been a constant.

The first in the series of Emergency National Virtual Discussions was held on April 2^nd. This discussion, like each in the series, was ripped from the conversations that Learning Counsel is having with both education leaders and education vendors throughout America.

The discussion, hosted by Learning Counsel CEO and Publisher LeiLani Cauthen, presented solutions to the question on everyone’s mind: What do we do right now?

Dr. Keisha Taylor, National Education Administrator for T-Mobile, presented strategy for connecting the unconnected populations in both urban and rural settings. Her programs are supplying both devices and broadband connections for the asking, and she gives solid advice to ensure digital equity during the crisis and beyond.

Eric Godfrey, Superintendent for Buckeye Union High School District, is well known in education circles. His passion for education is edifying, and he shares what his district is doing step-by-step. Eric isn’t content to let even one student slip through the cracks. You’ll want to hear how he does it.

Matt Nickerson is the Instructional Technology Specialist for Anne Arundel County Public Schools and sees things through that lens. His insight into which technology is working is invaluable, as well as his know-how in navigating the politics of a large and diverse district of 130,000 students.

Ellen Palmer, Program Administrator, Educational Technology for Pomona Unified School District, has helped prioritize delivery in her California district. They decided all teachers and students need access to technology as well as the Internet. Their solutions are unique and may work in your own district. Pomona then established ongoing tech support as well as a system of teacher support. The challenges they faced were enormous and probably not unlike your own.
