Many school districts are entering the 2026–27 planning cycle facing sustained under-enrollment, staffing pressure, and renewed conversations about consolidation or closure. The Knowstory 2026

Time AI District Cohort exists to support districts seeking a different outcome: maintaining local school operations while reorganizing learning around time, pace, and readiness.

This initiative is designed for districts that want continuity, not disruption—and are ready to modernize how time functions across learning, teaching, and operations.

What Time AI Is

Time AI is an intelligence layer that continuously aligns:

  • Learner readiness and pace
  • Teacher availability and instructional moments

Rather than relying on fixed schedules, static cohorts, or age-based pacing, Time AI enables learning to advance when students are ready and brings teachers into live instruction at the moments of highest instructional value with AI cohorting and AI auto-calendaring of classes.

Time AI is not a chatbot, a scheduling tool, or a replacement for educators. It is a coordination system that allows time to function adaptively across asynchronous and live learning.

Why Time AI for Districts

Districts are turning to Time AI to address challenges that traditional structures cannot resolve:

  • Under-enrollment that makes full staffing models unsustainable
    • Wide learner pace variation within classrooms
    • Teacher overload caused by fixed-period instruction
    • Pressure to integrate AI responsibly without destabilizing schools

By reorganizing time rather than replacing schools, districts can stabilize operations while improving learner outcomes.

Who This Cohort Is For

This cohort may be a fit for districts and some schools that:

  • Are experiencing or anticipating schools with under-enrollment
  • Have non-viable rural schools
  • Are exploring satellite campuses, microschools, or hybrid models
  • Want to roll up online programs into campus programs in one cohesive model
  • Want to personalize learning by path and pace
  • Seek to retain educators while adjusting operations
  • Are planning structural changes for the 2026–27 school year

The cohort size is intentionally limited to ensure depth of support and meaningful collaboration.

Cost and Access

Core Time AI functionality is provided to cohort districts at no cost for the exploration year and the optional Pro-levels with full function for the first year of use.

Participation in the cohort does not require an immediate financial commitment unless it exceeds ten hours of prep and consult or requires travel, presentations to Boards, or full financial and staffing impact analysis.
