MINNEAPOLIS — As the school year draws to a close, teachers need ways to review what their students have learned and ensure they don’t forget it over the summer. Thanks to Hooda Math, that job has become easier – and more fun!
Hooda Math, K-12’s leading resource for free online math games, recently launched three new games: Integer Tilt, Sand Grid and Time Punch. The games review essential math concepts like integers, coordinate pairs, and telling time in an engaging way.
“It is hard to get students to practice math over the summer, and we recommend at least 15 minutes a day of any math activity,” said Michael Edlavitch, founder and CEO of Hooda Math. “With Hooda Math, students have so much fun playing our cool math games that they barely realize they’re learning!”
All three games cover Common Core grade level standards and are equipped with an email reporting feature, which allows students to send their scores to a parent or teacher after completing certain levels. Like all new games on Hooda Math’s website, they are optimized for mobile use and can be accessed on any device, be it computer, smart phone or tablet.
• Integer Tilt has been a popular game on Hooda Math’s website for years, and the mobile version will continue to help students understand the concept of positive and negative integers.
• Sand Grid reviews coordinate pairs for 5th-8th graders, encouraging students to create a path between coordinate pairs so falling sand lands in a bucket. Sand Grid also introduces students to identifying the slope of a line.
• Time Punch is a user-friendly game that helps 2nd-4th graders learn to tell time. The game also reviews analog-to-digital conversion, as well as converting hours to minutes.
