Pennsylvania’s Daniel Boone Area School District (DBASD) today announced a new partnership with Discovery Education, the global leader in standards-aligned digital curriculum resources, engaging content, and professional learning for K-12 classrooms. The digital services provided by Discovery Education to DBASD’s students and educators and the supporting professional development opportunities ensure district students access to exciting digital lessons no matter their location or device.
Located approximately 10 miles southeast of Reading, Pennsylvania, and approximately 50 miles northeast of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, DBASD takes pride in Learning Together; Advocating for All as they develop diverse learners within a safe environment. To build the capacity of district educators to meet the evolving needs of students and the challenges of virtual learning, DBASD sought a digital instructional solution that could be used either in the classroom or remotely and that was supported by sustained professional learning. Following a rigorous selection process, the district chose Discovery Education’s suite of award-winning digital services for classroom use in all schools districtwide. Those resources include:

In addition, the service’s up-to-date, high-quality, and ever-growing digital content collections, as well as a library of immersive virtual field trips and viewing parties, are drawn from trusted partners.
Discovery Education’s family of Math, Science, and Social Studies Techbooks. Used by over 9.5 million students globally, Discovery Education’s Techbooks are aligned to rigorous standards and updated regularly at no cost. Each Techbook is an immersive, digital curriculum that provides educators detailed lesson plans, embedded formative assessments, hands-on activities, digital simulations, and robust teacher supports that deeply engage students in learning.
Discovery Education STEM Connect. STEM Connect is a cutting-edge, web-based, interdisciplinary K-8 supplemental resource that helps students develop the creative, critical thinking, communication, and collaboration skills they need for success beyond graduation, and in 2019 was awarded the prestigious CODiE award by the Software and Information Industry Association. Featuring flexible, modular learning units, STEM Connect provides students an easy-to-follow educational experience that includes real-world challenges, career connections, and hands-on activities.
Discovery Education Coding. Through Discovery Education Coding, elementary and middle school students are inspired to learn important coding concepts as they develop computational thinking skills through decomposition, logical reasoning, and problem solving. Based in part on the award-winning Discovery Education Coding service used by teachers across the United Kingdom, the U.S. version of Coding features a wide array of coding resources that help students take coding from concept to reality.

To help educators maximize the value of their new digital resources, Discovery Education’s expert Professional Learning team will provide numerous professional development opportunities in the upcoming school year. During these professional development opportunities, educators will learn how to use their new digital resources. In addition, they will explore best practices for integrating technology and digital content into teaching and learning in ways that will maximize their impact, increase student engagement in instruction, and improve students’ academic achievement.
DBASD’s partnership with Discovery Education also provides district teachers access to the Discovery Education Community.
