Being in the media business, I watch the news with interest. I get alerts on my phone, and try to watch a cycle every morning and every evening from the major networks – CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, Reuters and Bloomberg – and if time permits I’ll stream highlights from the late-night shows to get my share of the day’s satire and commentary. I also get the Twitter feeds from POTUS, VPOTUS, about a dozen senators, a half dozen House members, and the above news organizations.

That’s a lot of news. And not to malign the world’s major news organizations, but everyone seems to be getting into the weeds about a lot of things that don’t matter, particularly surrounding a lot of things that really do.

Most days, I’ll consume a couple hours of content and not hear one word about education. That astounds me. Education affects nearly every individual on the planet. From the students (some 50 million in the US alone) to their parents, to those that work in education (our nation’s #1 employer), to every business that depends on a workforce, to every business that supplies the needs of the education industry. I could go on and on. Education is news. Everyday. The transformation of our education system from a centuries-old model to one that can prepare our youth for a future that is very different from our own – that’s news! There is a very active education media in the US and around the world. Organizations like eSchool News, MindRocket Media Group, The Learning Counsel, Education Week and scores of podcasts and blogs – they produce great education news for educators. But it’s like preaching to the choir. I applaud each of the many education platforms, but combined they have less reach than one of the national news networks mentioned above.

Perhaps what we need is a national platform for education, one preaching to the choir and to the masses (both huddled and already breathing free). That’s what I’m betting on. This Spring, MindRocket Media Group is launching a nationally broadcast, syndicated news show for America that is entirely about education. It is called The Jack Ford Report, and is hosted by Jack Ford, a 30-year news veteran and trusted journalist whose work on CBS, NBC and ABC give him universal respect and notoriety. Jack will serve as both host and Executive Editor, ensuring that we get the stories right. And the stories are out there. Stories about innovation. About triumph. About genuine heroes that are making a difference every day. The Jack Ford Report is about inspiration. It will report the amazing successes, the incredible work that is going on in education.

For the first time, we’ll have a national platform to tell the real story about education from the insiders that are making it happen. This will be your platform. Your stories. The stories of real American heroes, of global collaboration, of the largest and most important, positive transformation to our way of life on a global scale.

We’d like your contribution. Your ideas. Your participation. Call us. Email us. Tweet us. Get involved and be a part of the media you’ve been hoping for. I’ll continue to watch the news. Every morning and every evening from the major networks – CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, Reuters and Bloomberg – and if time permits I’ll still continue to stream highlights from the late-night shows to get my share of the day’s satire and commentary. I’ll also keep getting the Twitter feeds from POTUS, VPOTUS, about a dozen senators, a half dozen House members, and the above news organizations. But now, I’ll also get the education news. Broadcast, cable, satellite and streaming – just like nature intended. And now, so will you.
