As the COVID-19 pandemic calls upon many schools and districts to continue distance learning, Follett has responded to educators’ needs by adding new convenient features to its student information system, which serves more than two million students throughout the United States and Canada.

Follett Aspen Student Information System has developed several enhancements for distance learning, including:

• Build complex schedules with ease. Aspen SIS will now allow users to implement flexible scheduling structures to respond to the need for traditional, remote and hybrid learning. Users can transition between delivery models and take remote attendance.

• Process mobile-friendly, daily COVID questionnaires fast. This eliminates the time-consuming and resource-intensive paper questionnaire process by offering paperless questionnaires through the mobile-friendly Aspen family portal. Students and parents can complete the questionnaires on a laptop or mobile device, and the SIS houses the questionnaires for a school or district’s reporting needs.

• Move and use data with confidence. Districts can export data with ease and connect to their learning management systems using industry standards such as Ed-Fi and One Roster.

• Host weekly Q & A sessions. The Aspen support team interacts with customers on a weekly basis to answer questions and address issues.

Moreover, Aspen customers are benefitting from the convenience of having Aspen integrated with Follett’s market-leading Destiny Library Manager.

“Teachers can add resources from the school library to homework, while students can search the catalog, in person or remotely,” said Britten Follett, executive vice president, Follett School Solutions.

She added the integration is included in the system and, when combined with Aspen’s online gradebook and student portal capabilities, enables schools to provide immediate and flexible distance-learning opportunities, including online homework for independent reading and research.

Aspen safely and securely hosts and manages student data, such as class schedules, school events, student performance, athletic eligibility, and individual health records. A mobile-friendly, one-stop application for teachers, administrators and school community, Aspen also allows educators to closely monitor student progress, implement new curriculum, and conveniently communicate with parents.
