“This is a new normal. We now see the opportunity to solve not only the rising teacher shortage, but also effectively impact virtual teaching models and simplify out-of-state license transfers,” says Marty Reed, founder and CEO. “The Teacher Wallet gives teachers control not only over their licensure and credential data but also serves as a secure repository for their intellectual property such as lesson plans and curriculum designs.”

RANDA developed The Teacher Wallet over the last 18 months. As an industry leader in data and workflow management, RANDA participates in key discussions around Verified Credentials, Interoperable Learning Records and the Comprehensive Learning Record standards. These insights provided the foundation for product development. “We knew interoperable standards were critical to the flexibility and adoption of this tool for teachers, states and districts,” says Reed. “Our experience at the state level increasingly validates the need for other licensure and EdPrep Program providers to leverage next generation blockchain technology.”

The release of The Teacher Wallet API marks the first purpose built blockchain solution for teachers, as noted in the recent American Council on Education (ACE) report on blockchain technologies in education. Allowing other vendors to integrate with the tool allows states to leverage the platform for a fully verifiable picture of a teacher. This shortens the onboarding time and provides streamlined placement of educators within districts and schools. The dynamic data available to teachers will allow them to identify the right opportunities to leverage their skills. “This is just the beginning, we see a whole new ecosystem emerging and are on the cusp of the next generation of teaching. Many are focused on technologies that could displace the teacher such as AI and automated education. We believe these technologies are useful tools for the teacher, who must remain at the center of the education experience and be empowered to do what they do best,” says Reed.

About RANDA Solutions: For 20 years, RANDA has provided teacher effectiveness systems to state level agencies. They continue to mature their platforms to meet the needs of modern education systems. Solutions include roster verification, student claiming, observation and evaluation, licensure, salary, and the creation of an overall teacher portfolio. Currently RANDA platforms impact approximately 10% of the teaching population in the United States. RANDA wants to grow its ability to solve teacher frustrations. “We know teachers want to make a difference for as many students as possible. Providing this new functionality to existing platforms allows them to do just that,” says Reed.
