Soundtrap, part of Spotify, has announced the launch of Education Today presented by Soundtrap for Education, a new podcast series that will surface the key trends and topics influencing K-12 education, and feature discussions with the thought leaders, innovators and practitioners who are changing teaching and learning globally. Listeners can subscribe on Spotify here; the series will be made available via other podcast platforms in the near future.

The first two episodes of Education Today are available now. The premiere episode features interviews with leading education podcaster Jeff Bradbury, creator of TeacherCast, as well as Lori Jackson, an educational psychologist and co-founder of The Connections Model. Episode two includes a pair of insightful conversations on the many considerations leaders must take when making decisions related to the coronavirus pandemic. The interviewees are Sean Slade, Senior Director of Global Outreach for ASCD, and Dr. Randy Ziegenfuss, Superintendent of Pennsylvania’s Salisbury Township School District and host of TL Talk Radio. Two new episodes of the show will publish each month, supplemented by special series recorded live from some of the top education technology events worldwide. These special series will build on prior successful shows, including Soundtrap’s Best of ISTE 2019 and Best of Bett 2020.

“Today, Soundtrap for Education’s online studio is being used by educators across the world to promote authentic student voice across a variety of subjects and grade levels,” said Matteo Ottaviani, Head of Soundtrap for Education. “Our goal for Education Today is to push the conversation forward and give all K-12 stakeholders, from classroom teachers to district leaders, tech creators and entrepreneurs, an opportunity to gain meaningful insights and engage in discussions around the topics that matter everywhere in education.”

Education Today is hosted by Dr. Rod Berger, CEO of MindRocket Media Group, whose interviews and articles have appeared in a variety of publications including Forbes, Huffington Post, Scholastic, edCircuit and EdTechReview India. He was also the host of the Best of ISTE and Best of Bett podcast series presented by Soundtrap.

Unlike most podcasts, Education Today episodes are designed to feature multiple segments, made up of interviews with diverse experts and practitioners and tackling more than one timely topic. Each episode will also include a Data Insight segment, which will highlight key research provided by The Learning Counsel and give information on the most recent trends in 21st century learning. Many episodes will include expert interviews focused on evaluating the Data Insights and providing further context and understanding.

“I’m excited to launch a new podcast series that will truly explore and address the overarching trends and pressing needs relevant to K-12 education stakeholders of all roles,” said Dr. Berger. “Whether you’re a brand new teacher, a keynote speaker, edtech entrepreneur, curriculum director, research enthusiast or anything in between, we invite you to listen to the show, reflect on our discussions about essential 21st century topics, and engage in the conversation by connecting on social media.”

Upcoming episodes of Education Today will explore how schools are succeeding with edtech, what the research tells us about the future of learning, how educators are making decisions about pedagogy and instruction, and many more key elements to both inform and transform their practice.
