SAN MATEO, Calif., Aug. 27, 2019 – Swing Education, an on-demand marketplace for substitute teachers, now serves 200-plus New Jersey school customers and has filled more than 10,000 teacher absence days through its online platform. In addition, the company was recently named a sponsor for substitute teacher candidates by the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE), allowing it to help support those who want to substitute teach in the state.

“Keeping schools fully staffed with quality educators is critical to student success. Yet New Jersey, like many states across the country, is dealing with a shortage of qualified substitute teachers,” said Mike Teng, CEO of Swing Education. “This designation by NJDOE allows us to better support New Jersey’s schools by helping more people become substitute teachers.”

Swing Education uses its online platform to connect schools with its pool of qualified substitute teachers. Swing Education also handles Pass the Trash compliance ensuring schools in the Garden State benefit from qualified, screened educators.

“It is essential to keep our school on its normal schedule and this is one of the reasons we use Swing,” said Jason Chirichella, Vice Principal at the South Hackensack School District Memorial School.  “When teachers are out, it is my responsibility to move the chess pieces around to make sure each position is filled. Swing has helped us fill these positions and we’ve had some really excellent subs.”

Swing Education is also working to further its mission of increasing the number of qualified educators entering the substitute teaching profession. Along with its sponsor designation by the NJDOE, Swing Education reimburses substitute teachers for start-up and permit-related expenses. Additionally, with Swing Education, substitute teachers can respond to the assignments they want, making it easy for them to find work that fits their preferences and their schedules.
