The Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents (ALAS) is accepting presentation proposals through April 15, 2023 for its 20th Annual National ALAS Education Summit, which takes place October 4-7, 2023 in San Antonio.

The Summit is ALAS’ premier leadership development event of the year and features inspiring keynote speakers, thought-provoking breakout sessions, workshops, policy updates and networking opportunities for administrators and aspiring administrators, school board members, education leaders and solution providers from across the country. This will mark the 20th anniversary of the event.

“We’re excited to celebrate the 20th Summit anniversary this year and will honor our past, celebrate our present, and look forward to the future. We will be celebrating progress over the past two decades, while also getting to work on potential solutions to the most pressing issues in education impacting all students, and particularly Latino students,” said ALAS Executive Director Dr. Maria Armstrong. “This is a great opportunity for school districts that have achieved successes to highlight their practices of promise and share those ideas with their colleagues.”

Presentations are being accepted on the following topics:

  • Social and Emotional Learning Paths to Wellbeing
  • Early Childhood through Career
  • Culture and Climate
  • Education Policy and Impact
  • Multilingual Gateways to Success

About the Association of Latino Administrators & Superintendents (ALAS)

The Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents [ALAS] is committed to providing a perspective to all aspiring school and district administrators including superintendents through programs, services, advocacy and networks rooted in Latino experiences and culture. ALAS has nearly 8,000 members across 23 state affiliates with several more states soon to be a part of the ALAS Familia. Our Vision, Mission and Goals are to provide leadership at the national level that assures every school in America effectively serves the educational needs of all students with an emphasis on Latino and other historically marginalized youth through continuous professional learning, policy advocacy, and networking to share practices of promise for our students and the communities where we serve.

By the year 2026, Latino children will make up 30 percent of the school-age population. In the nation’s largest states – California, Texas, Florida, and New York- all of whom are ALAS State Affiliates – Latinos already have reached that level. It is of vital interest to invest in the education of every child, and the professional learning of all educators who serve Latino youth.
