Cyber Robotics 102, a new curriculum from CoderZ using advanced gaming simulation to teach STEM topics, has been chosen as a 2020 SIIA CODiE Award finalist in the Best Game-Based Curriculum Solution category. Award finalists represent applications, products and services from developers of educational software, digital content, online learning services and related technologies across the PreK-20 sector.

Launched in January, 2020, the standards-aligned Cyber Robotics 102 curriculum is a sequel to Cyber Robotics 101. Using gamified, level-based missions in a realistic virtual environment to teach computer science and robotics, students in grades 5-8 engage in the authentic, lifelike, virtual simulation that utilizes mechanics, physics, navigation and sensors to introduce students to programming concepts such as commands, variables, conditional logic, loops and more. The comprehensive 15-session course offers 15 hours of curriculum and practice with all the tools and knowledge needed to support educators of any experience level in providing a game-based learning experience. 

One CODiE judge called the CR 102 curriculum a “well thought out, comprehensive coding option for schools who do not want to write their own curriculum.”

 Acknowledged as the premier awards program for the software and information industries for 35 years, the SIIA CODiE Awards are produced by the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the principal trade association for the software, education, media and digital content industries. CoderZ was honored as one of 157 finalists across the 35 education technology categories.

The SIIA CODiE Awards are the industry’s only peer-reviewed awards program. Educators and administrators serve as judges and conduct the first-round review of all education nominees. Their scores determine the SIIA CODiE Award finalists and account for 80% of the overall score. SIIA members then vote on the finalist products. The scores from both rounds are tabulated to select the winners.

Education Technology category winners will be announced during an online winner announcement celebration May 19, 2020.
