THE Journal has named Avantis Education’s Eduverse Expeditions a winner in its 2022 New Product Awards. The awards program honors outstanding product development achievements of manufacturers and suppliers whose products and services are considered to be particularly noteworthy in the transformation of education technology. Eduverse Expeditions won a Platinum award – the highest honor – in the Virtual Reality/Metaverse Software/System category.

“As virtual reality technology becomes more accessible, schools are seeking products and content and that is created specifically for K-12 education,” said Avantis Education’s Global Sales & Marketing Director, Huw Williams. “Eduverse Expeditions helps to meet this demand with its vast library of free VR and AR content and rich resources for teachers, all provided in a secure virtual environment. We’re honored to be recognized by THE Journal.”

Eduverse Expeditions is a free immersive library of VR and AR content including engaging 360-degree photos and videos, 3D models, educator resources, and lesson plans. It allows students to go on adventures to see famous landmarks and cities, and experience different cultures without ever leaving the classroom. Students appear as their avatars and can see and talk to each other, and work together as they explore these far-off destinations with guidance from their teacher, just as they would in person.

Eduverse Expeditions is powered by the “Eduverse,” a built-for-education online platform from Avantis Education, which allows students to experience the fully immersive online content all from a secure, teacher-controlled virtual environment.

“This year’s New Product Awards highlight the vital role that technology plays across all aspects of K–12 education. We are pleased to recognize the winners for their contribution to the ed tech ecosystem that is moving schools forward, enhancing teaching and learning, and supporting students, teachers and administrators alike,” said David Nagel, editor-in-chief of THE Journal, in a statement announcing the winners.
